The Lyndale Neighborhood Association (LNA) is an award-winning, nationally recognized community-based organization in South Minneapolis on the cutting edge of community development. LNA is currently seeking an experienced community leader to serve as its Executive Director. This is a full-time position leading LNA's staff team and supporting the volunteer Steering Committee to achieve the community's strategic goals. These goals involve a wide variety of community initiatives in the areas of crime prevention, youth & family, the environment, arts & culture, and inclusive organizing in the Latino and Somali communities.
Compensation: Full-Time. Salary is $37,000 to $42,000 to start, plus benefits.
Responsibilities:
1. Team Development
- Supervise and mentor LNA staff team of four to ensure that community goals are being met
- Assist Steering Committee (Board of Directors) in developing and articulating organization's vision and goals
- Ensure LNA's core mission of community building
2. Executive Administration
- Financial management, including developing and monitoring the annual budget
- Support Steering Committee's monthly meetings and the neighborhood's General Membership meetings
- Ensure that organization fulfills its legal fiduciary duties and contract administration
3. Promote the Lyndale neighborhood
- Understand and communicate organization and neighborhood goals both within the Lyndale neighborhood and with Lyndale's external stakeholders
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other area organizations and agencies (LNDC, area social service providers, city agencies, etc.)
- Ensure neighborhood communication network works effectively: including the monthly newspaper, website and neighborhood e-list
4. Fundraise
- Secure resources necessary to meet neighborhood and organizational goals, including grant writing
- Direct fundraising for organization, including building and maintaining relationships with funders and looking for creative partnerships to achieve joint goals
Qualifications:
A competetive candidate will have:
- A minimum of two years experience with a similarly-sized community-led organization, directing experience preferred
- Experience managing staff, especially in a team environment
- Experience working with a Board of Directors
- Experience developing and monitoring annual budgets
- Excellent communication and group facilitation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population, public agencies, and the general public
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening/weekend hours
- Demonstrated fundraising experience
- A four-year college degree or equivalent experience
