Visitors on the 2000 Home Tour began their tour of Seward with a walk or drive along a scenic stretch of the Mississippi River - the neighborhood's eastern border. After they took time to appreciate this beautiful river-front park, some visited the home of Diane and Mike Trdan located near the river at 2524 35th Ave. S. "Move or stay?" That was the decision the Trdans had pondered regarding their cozy 1912 home after losing their glorious oak tree to disease in the winter of 2000. Its removal allowed them to add more than 300 square feet onto their 1,500 square foot home. "The new addition - our retreat - is a comfortable place to relax and entertain near a new gas-fired hearth," they say. "Remodeling also let us reconstruct a steep, confined stairwell to our second-floor bedrooms. Visitors will see why we chose to stay in our neighborhood near the river, our home since 1983!"
