NRP Policy Board Seeks Feedback on Revised Housing Funds Proposal

The NRP Policy Board is asking neighborhood organizations to review and comment on a revised NRP Housing Funds proposal. This proposal was first sent out to neighborhood organizations in February in an effort to expand and change the way the NRP helps neighborhoods meet their housing related goals.

The Housing Funds proposal: creates eight housing investment funds; provides a prospectus and guidelines for each of the funds; charges the NRP with soliciting a vendor to administer each of the funds; allows neighborhoods to invest in one or more of these funds; creates a mechanism for incorporating investments into these funds into neighborhood action plans; and assures that any participation in the Housing Funds Program is strictly voluntary.

The Housing Funds proposal that neighborhood organizations are now being asked to comment on has been significantly revised from the earlier version based on the comments and suggestions of neighborhood organizations, government staff and housing and finance professionals. The three public hearings on the funds were also very helpful and led to many of the changes in the revision.

The entire Housing Funds proposal is now available for download in PDF format here. The NRP mailed hard copies of the proposal to all Minneapolis neighborhood organizations on Oct. 1. If you would like a copy mailed to you, please call Carsten Slostad at 612-673-5150.

Comments on the NRP Housing Funds proposal should be sent by Nov. 15 to: NRP, ATTN: Bob Miller, 105 Fifth Ave. S., Suite #425, Minneapolis, MN 55401. E-mail comments will also be accepted at rmiller@nrp.org. The Policy Board will consider acting on the proposed housing funds program at its Nov. 22 meeting.
