"Affordability was our primary concern when we searched through the Minneapolis housing market," say the McReynolds. "We were fortunate to find this 1886 Victorian duplex in the Ventura Village section of Phillips; it cost about the same as our previous home but was twice as big. It was a boarded eyesore when we purchased it with an MCDA loan in 1999. Since then we've remodeled with excellent results including the hardwood floors and intricate moldings. During the Home Tour, the McReynolds shared ideas with visitors on how to remodel with a budget in mind.
