In 1998, this historic duplex was on the Home Tour as a restoration project of the Greater Minneapolis Metropolitan Housing Corporation (GMMHC). Each side had been lovingly restored and featured three bedrooms, 1.5 baths, an attached garage and stunning woodwork. The Hukriede's spotted the home then, fell in love with it and purchased it. Next, with the help of interior designer Sharon Ulrich, they made it their own. Visitors to the Hukriede's were treated to a look at the hand-painted mural of the Italian countryside in their kitchen and the harlequin touches in their living room. With fairies and jesters adorning gold walls, a maroon velvet couch and velvet curtains, home tour visitors saw just how creative a house can be!
